Amazon Astro, Household Robot for Home Monitoring

Household Robot is one of the most popular topics in recent years since more and more people are sick of house chores. In the pet industry, the robots can be separated into several groups according to their purposes: for companionship, and a better living environment. But so far, none of them are real robots, instead, they just add some features based on the existing products, for example, adding a throwing feature on a camera, or adding a camera on a floor-mopping robot. Still, there is a long way to develop a real robot for a pet family.

Recently, Amazon launched its robot for pets, namely Astro, allowing pet parents to monitor and talk to their animals from a distance. At first glance, it is similar to the ones we’ve introduced before, let’s see the differences.

The common functions are including:
* Walking around the home and going where you need it using its navigation technology; 
* Alerting if there is an unrecognized person or certain sounds when you’re away;

Additional functions:
* Setting up reminders, managing shopping lists, receiving activity alerts, and more, for aging people, just like a secretary;

* Following you with entertainment or find you to deliver calls, messages, timers, alarms, or reminders.

* Carrying a variety of accessories (sold separately) like a Ziploc container, the OMRON blood pressure monitor, and a Furbo Dog Camera that tosses treats to your pet.

It is always nice to have a dream. From the introduction of the robot, it seems that the team has been working hard on user experience, and a lot of scenarios have been taken into consideration, well done. And one of the most important things is, the robot can continuously learn and upgrade, although it might take time, we’ve been patient enough to wait for it to be perfect.
